Paul Newbury

Training Manager

I am the Training Manager here at Positive Signs where I joined back in April 2020.

Prior to joining Positive Signs, I worked at St Clere’s School, Thurrock as the Lead BSL Tutor for 11 years.

What I like best about Positive Signs is there is a strong passion and vision for British Sign Language, we believe every Deaf person should have full access and that we strive to provide that. Plus Positive Signs brings out the best in everyone, including me and it has always been that since I have first started!!

I am very passionate about delivering high-quality training, whether BSL or Deaf Awareness or we can create bespoke courses specifically to meet your needs. I believe that every learner deserves the right to a clear and robust training programme that delivers excellent training, support, encouragement and guidance on their own learning journey.

I have over 15 years of experience teaching and assessing learners, from Deaf Awareness, Signature Level 1 BSL courses and up to NVQ Level 6 and including the last 11 years of leading a team of BSL Tutors within the educational and community settings. I have a rich and wide range of knowledge with employment, education, the voluntary sector and management, all with a strong connection to the Deaf and Hearing Community and I am delighted to bring this to Positive Signs and for our clients.

I am profoundly Deaf and a native BSL Level 6 User. For your BSL and Deaf Awareness training requirements, contact me.
